March 30th Storm

This is a few pictures of our blizzard we had yesterday. I was standing on the steps and took this picture of my husband as he was walking across the yard taking care of some horses.
Here are a few of the drifts we had today. My husband is cleaning out the driveway with the Bobcat. Some areas are brown and other areas have big drifts. All of the schools, etc. were closed down again for the second day! I shoveled the sidewalks and flower bed. I did it several times yesterday but in a few minutes it didn't look like I touched it. Also, got all of the snow off the cedar trees as they get so boggled down.
Here are the dogs posing for a picture in front of the garage. They love playing in the snow and chasing after snowballs. It is sunny out now but still pretty cool for almost April.

You gotta love this guy! "I still have a full deck, I just shuffle slower". This stamp set is from "The Golden Oldies" in the new Ocassions Mini catalog beginning tomorrow, April 1st. It has 3 cute images in it. I used Artichoke card stock along with To The Nines DSP. I reversed the To The Nines DSP that is under the Caramel card stock. I also used the new Chocolate Chip Jumbo Brads and the small Chocolate Chip Brads. Everything is still closed down here from yesterday's blizzard-I90 from Sundance to Mitchell. Last night the Rapid City streets were closed. I was out shoveling and not making much progress. The snow is so sticky to the shovel. I would load the shovel with snow and then couldn't get it off. I finally gave up!!! We should really be green this Summer. There is more snow coming tomorrow again. The dams were full before this so we should have lots of water and grass. Today is the last day for Sale-a-bration. Enjoy your day and watch tomorrow for my 40 square game in April. Everyone can participate! Prizes and fun again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday, March 30, 2009

I can't believe it! We are in a full fledged blizzard again today! This Monday Blizzard is getting old! All of the schools are closed again and the snow is falling and the wind is blowing! Yesterday we drove to Pierre for a meeting and today you can't drive anywhere!!! So, I guess I will stay and home and stamp, stamp, stamp! This card is made from the new set "Golden Oldies" in the Ocassions Mini Catalog that will be released on Monday! This is a set of 3 and has some cute sayings "My mind not only wanders-sometimes it leaves completely". This is how we felt yesterday at the meeting-it would take us forever to think of names yet we could tell everything else about that person. Scary!!!! I ran a piece of Pink Pirouette card stock through the Big Shot with the Texturized Plate #4. I also used a piece of Bella Birds DSP and some Pink Pirouette Striped Ribbon. The card stock color for the main card is Bordering Blue. Thank you for looking and have a great day keeping warm!

Wagon Full of Fun

This is such a fun set to work with--Wagon Full of Fun! There are so many cute images in this set! I used the Lucky Duck and watercolored the duck with an Aqua Painter on Whisper White card stock. I mounted the Whisper White onto Baja Breeze card stock and then stressed the edges. You can either use a scissors or your fingernails and go along the edges. The Kiwi Kiss card stock was used with the Texture Plates in the Big Shot. I added a 4 inch piece of Pig Tails Ribbon (Kiwi Kiss polka dots). The phrase "Lucky Duck" was double mounted with Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss. It sounds like we are going to get another 6 to 10 inches of snow tomorrow night!

Easter Baskets for School

This is a picture of all the materials for the Easter Baskets that I am going to be making for 2 classes in April. I cut out 4 Envelopes with the Big Shot and then they can assemble them together. It took me most of the afternoon as I knew there would never be enough time for them to each cut out 4. I will take the Big Shot with me and show them how it works. In May I will let them use the Big Shot to do their project for Mother's Day! Too much fun!!!

Friday, March 27, 2009

This is the embossed Manhatten Flower using the Big Shot. I love this machine as you can tell. I made this card for a dear friend of ours that passed away this last week. I embossed this on Baja Breeze card stock and then added the new Scallop Oval with Chocolate Chip and added the image "Special Friend" with Chocolate Chip Ink. The polka-dot ribbon is Valet found on page 178 in the Stampin' Up! catalog. Remember there is only 5 days left of Sale-a-bration for you to get your FREE stamp sets with a $50 order. Be watching this Blog for my April special. I spent yesterday cutting out 40 Easter Baskets for 2 classrooms. I was mixing and matching DSP with card stock so they wouldn't all be the same. I will be forwarding some pictures after we complete the projects! I am sure the 2nd Graders will have fun. We are making them with 4 of the Big Shot envelopes and adding Easter grass and candy! Have a great day of stamping! I am on my way to town to get my hair cut, see my dad, and run some errands!

Spring Storm

We are in the midst of another Spring Storm. This was a picture of our place yesterday morning with the winds from 60 to 80 mph with snow flying. They closed interstate from Chamberlain SD to Sheridan WY yesterday and it is still closed.

This is a picture taken at the same angle this morning. Everything is closed down, even Walmart! First time for everything! A lot of the ranchers are calving now so the result will be a mess I am sure.

This is a picture this afternoon after the snow has quit. Of course, the wind is still blowing. We don't have a lot of snow but a lot of big drifts. The snow is very wet so that will help with the moisture level this spring. We are suppose to get more snow on Thursday then again on Sunday.
I haven't got a lot of stamping done but baking and playing cards and cribbage. We did have electricity through all of this which was great!

Boxes

These are a couple of boxes I made with the new Box #2 that I made with the Big Shot. Talk about a quick package! You run this through the Big Shot with a half piece of DSP and then fold on the score lines, add a little adhesive and you are done except for your embellishments-way under 5 minutes. On the top box I used Tea Party DSP, image from Sock Monkey, scallop punch, and 1 1/4 inch circle punch and some So Saffron Ribbon from Saleabration. I just reversed the DSP for the scallop paper and also added some punches with my hand punch so get the little holes in the scallop.

I made a little different embellishment on this box. I used the DSP from Sweet Always and added some Pink Pirouette striped ribbon and the new scallop oval punch and small oval punch with the image from Sock Monkey. I also added our new brown flower brad found on page 175 of the Stampin' Up! catalog. You can get 32 brads (8 of each color-- Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip) for only $6.95. On the side I punched an oval hole and then added a piece of transparancy over the hole. On the inside you can see I put some shredded paper and of course some chocolate eggs.
Now off to get a package ready for my great niece in Lincoln, NE! She is in kindergarten and her teacher has asked for some supplies to make cards and address envelopes! The students are learning how to address envelopes and write letters so they learn the importance of reading and writing. I just happen to have a box full of cards, envelopes, adhesives, etc. I can send her. We are all suppose to write her a letter so she gets some mail! What a great idea!!! We are suppose to be getting in a huge storm today and tomorrow with 60 mph winds and a foot of snow with 30 to 40 inches in the Black Hills! Yesterday at 79 degrees we spent the day getting shelter for all the animals and of course we are in the midst of calving so it creates another challenge. Life on the ranch is always interesting and full of surprises!!!! Have a great day and keep warm.

This is a nice Thank You card I received from my friend Cary. She just had a little baby girl and sent me a sample of her thank you notes. She wrote in it" even my little 3 year old can run the Big Shot-He helped me make these cards". Thank you Cary for a great idea! Cute card!

Spring is Here!!!!!!

Happy Spring! It is so beautiful out today so hope our weather stays like this for a few days! I made this card with the new Summer Love Rub-Ons that will be featured in the new Mini Catalog beginning April 1st. I used Baja Breeze card stock and layered it with a piece of Whisper White card stock that had been used in the Big Shot with the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates. I put the Rub Ons on Cameo Coral and Kiwi Kiss squares. The design on the bottom and the Spring are also Rub Ons. The colors in the Rub Ons are Cameo Coral, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss and Basic Gray. This set sells for $11.95 and has 2 sheets in it. I must get lunch up to the building crew! Have a great day!

Manhatten Flower

Good morning to everyone on this beautiful day! I went out early and did some chores-I fed this little baby calf (Pairy) by bottle! They are so cute and he is so lively! We just started calving yesterday so the work has begun! You probably noticed some new buttons and a siggy on my blog last night. Thank you so much to Michelle Laycock! Now I have an email button and order button and will also add some more details as soon as I get it all figured out! She did a wonderful job! The card that I made is from the Textured Impressions Die, Manhatten Flower! I used the Big Shot to make the flower on Riding Hood Red card stock and layered it with Baja Breeze card stock. It was then mounted on Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP which is found on page 158 of the Stampin' Up! catalog! This paper is just beautiful! It is a little heavier than the normal DSP-plus double sided! I also used ribbon from the Ribbon Originals on page 178. On April 1st you will be able to order the new Oval Scallop Punch and the Oval All Stamp Set.

Last of the St. Pat's Activities

This is another St. Pat's card we made at the Open House. It was made with the Big Shot and the Movers and Shakers Curly Label. You can move the label wherever you would like on the card. It will also score your card. What an awesome die! I also used the Pinch Me Jumbo Roller with the versamark ink. The stamp image is from a retired Stampin' Up! favorite set.

Here we are making green doughnuts for the Hospital Rehab Physical Therapist Department and the Veterinary Clinic. We did a little experimenting with different doughnut cutters. I still like the medium sized cutter the best. This time we made more doughnut holes. I used a shot glass to cut most of them.

This is what they looked like before we heated them. My husband helped me this time so they went much faster!!!

More St. Pat's Pictures

Oh, my gosh! How much fun can some stampers have in one day? I had a St. Patricks Day Appreication get together for all of my customers and club members. We had so much fun stamping, playing games, and socializing!!!!

This is a picture of Jennifer as she is studying the catalog. Look at those pages flip!!!

These three ladies are working very hard on their Make and Takes-well, trying to work!

They are having so much fun with their Curly Label card. When they got through with their Make and Takes we played the game, LCR. What a blast! They had to play the game in order to win a prize of tiles, cubes, Big Shot Dies, etc. The game goes very fast so I had to have quite a few prizes.

The ladies could sign up for Door Prizes, Count the Green M & M's and a Punch Class. In the background are some little baskets that I made each of the guests with their initial on them. I filled them with a sucker, mint patty, Stampin' Up! pen, and a stamp.

St. Pat's Appreciation Day

Ellen loved her hat with even the price tag still in it. Almost everything was green including the clothes they wore to the Celebration. We also did green Make and Takes.

Donna is working so hard here with her Make and Takes.

They are almost finished so we can eat lunch--steamburgers, green salad, and green pudding trifle!! Also, some green grapes and celery!

St. Pat's Card

This is a St. Pat's Card made with the new die of the Big Shot. I used an old retired St. Pat stamp set. Just love that Stampin' Up! set. I used my aqua painter and stamp pads to color in the little guy. Then of course, I had to add some glitter!!!! Tomorrow is my Open House! Yikes! I am still not ready so must keep moving! Ideas for Door Prizes

This is a little door prize I made with just 5 different cards and I placed them in a little tin I bought at Hobby Lobby. They have them in lots of different colors. I added some celophane around the basket tin and some red ribbon. A quick gift to make if you have a bunch of cards made.
